State medical council registration: documents and steps
Published on 1 min read
Doctors need a medical registration to practise and to apply for most postgraduate exams and jobs. Each state medical council has its own forms and fees, so use this guide as a general checklist.
General steps
- Find the website or office of your state medical council.
- Fill in the registration form (online or on paper, as the council asks).
- Submit your documents and pay the fee.
- Collect your registration certificate and keep copies.
Before applying, keep these ready as soft copies (scans or clear photos):
- MBBS degree and marksheets
- Internship completion certificate
- Class 10 certificate (for date of birth)
- ID proof
- Passport size photographs
- Proof of address
Dates, fees and eligibility change from year to year. Always read the latest official notification before you apply, and keep a copy of your confirmation page.
