Scholarship documents checklist: income, caste and bank details

Published on 1 min read

Scholarship forms are often delayed because one certificate is missing. Certificates such as income and caste certificates can take days to get, so start early.

Before applying, keep these ready as soft copies (scans or clear photos):

  • Aadhaar number linked to your mobile number
  • Bank passbook or cancelled cheque (account in your own name)
  • Income certificate of parent or guardian
  • Caste certificate (if the scheme needs it)
  • Previous year marksheet
  • Admission or fee receipt
  • Passport size photograph

Common mistakes

  • Bank account not in the student's name, or not active.
  • Name or date of birth that differs from the certificates.
  • Certificates that are too old or not in the format asked.

Dates, fees and eligibility change from year to year. Always read the latest official notification before you apply, and keep a copy of your confirmation page.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Where do I get an income certificate?

From the office your state names for it, often a tehsil or revenue office or an online state service. Ask for the current process.

My Aadhaar is not linked to my bank account. What now?

Contact your bank and link it. Many scholarships pay only to a linked and active account.
